Trauma Specific Services
Most people will experience trauma in their lifetime whether it’s a car accident, abuse or neglect, the sudden death of a loved one, a violent criminal act, exposure to the violence of war, or a natural disaster.
While many people can recover from trauma over time with the love and support of family and friends and bounce back with resiliency, others may discover the effects of lasting trauma, which can cause a person to live with deep emotional pain, fear, confusion, or posttraumatic stress far after the event has passed.
In these circumstances, the support, guidance, and assistance of a therapist are fundamental to healing from trauma.
All of our services are trauma-informed. We also offer trauma-specific therapies such as EMDR and Brainspotting with select therapists. Scroll to learn more.
EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitation Reprosessing)
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps individuals process distressing memories and reduce the emotional charge associated with them. It involves a structured eight-phase approach where the therapist uses bilateral stimulation (through guided eye movements, sound, or tapping) to help the individual process traumatic or disturbing memories.
EMDR aims to facilitate the brain’s natural healing processes, allowing the person to reprocess memories in a way that promotes emotional healing and adaptive coping.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a powerful therapy that identifies and releases emotional and physical distress. Brainspotting works with the deep brain and the body, bringing about profound psychological and physical effects, and offers a holistic approach to healing, addressing the interconnectedness of mind and body. It engages both the conscious and unconscious mind, facilitating the processing and release of experiences that may be challenging to access through traditional talk therapy alone.
